Hezbollah pounded northern Israel with 140 rockets Friday, a day after the militant group’s leader vowed to retaliate against Israel for a mass bombing attack, the Israeli military and the militant group said.

Khaled Meshal, one of Hamas’s most senior officials, said in an interview that the militant group expects to play a decisive role in the enclave when the war is over.

The attacks in southern Lebanon follow others on Hezbollah rocket launchers and infrastructure, after Hezbollah vowed to respond to detonations of pagers and radios.
