Miley Cyrus finds herself at the center of controversy as she is accused of copying Bruno Mars' 2012 song When I Was Your Man in her song Flowers, which her won the Grammy Award. She is being sued for copyright infringement.

As a reminder, Miley announced "Flowers" three years after finalizing her divorce from Liam and then released it on his birthday. Meanwhile, fans pieced two and two together, and realized that the lyrics to "Flowers" seemingly reference "When I was Your Man," which Liam allegedly dedicated to Miley once upon a time.

Tempo previously purchased the rights to songwriter Philip Lawrence’s catalogue, and Lawrence was a songwriter on “When I Was Your Man.” Now, they’re using that purchase to get litigious with it, suing Cyrus for a unknown sum and to stop her from performing or distributing the song.

Sorry. Is it weird that bodies of art are being treated as financial assets for someone other than the artist who created them? Yeah, wee bit. But it’s legal, so one supposes that the two Grammy awards Cyrus won for her work on Flowers don’t mean much.
