The Sabres have been ramping up their training camp faster than usual with a trip to Europe for the NHL Global Series quickly approaching. They only have two preseason contests prior to their departure next Tuesday, then one final exhibition tune-up against Red Bull Munich before regular-season play begins in Czechia on Oct. 4.

The only line of likely starters that will not suit up is the unit of Jason Zucker, Ryan McLeod, and Jordan Greenway, who participated in the second scrimmage on Saturday morning. Team Blue edged out Team White 4-3 on a Mason Jobst shootout goal.

The notable Penguins prospects who will play Saturday night are Rutger McGroarty, Tristan Broz, and 2024 second-round pick Tanner Howe.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are slated to start goaltender Joel Blomqvist for Saturday’s preseason opener, a road contest against the Buffalo Sabres. Per coach Mike Sullivan, Blomqvist is scheduled to play the complete game with Filip Larsson dressing as the backup.
