Assateague Island National Seashore has reopened beaches that were closed earlier this week due to medical wastes and other garbage washing ashore.

Water access at Ocean City and surrounding beaches on the Delmarva Peninsula was restricted Sunday after officials say a “significant” amount of medical waste, including hypodermic needles, had washed ashore.
